Birthlight Diploma for Maternity Professionals- Royal College of Midwives Accredited

The course is divided into 3 modules that must be completed within a period of 1 year. The first module is to certificate level. Completion of the third module is to diploma level.

The Birthlight Yoga for Maternity Professionals Diploma is the full teaching qualification recognised for purposes of insurance and professional accreditation. The course is accredited with the Royal College of Midwives in the United Kingdom.

                     

Part 1 - Certificate Level

First Module
3 days of tuition including theory and practical. These day-long sessions include thoery and practical work, with supporting manual and handbook.

Second Module
6 months of self practise with tutor support via the educational portal on the Birthlight website that you can access with a login and password that is provided by Birthlight upon completion of the first module. The main focus is on setting up, promoting and running safe and effective pregnancy yoga classes whilst documenting case studies.

Part 1 (the first and second modules) is tutor assessed by a simple practical assessment in which students teach a class.

                     

Part 2 - Diploma Level

Requirements:

Two case studies. The first case study is of organising a class with a minimum of 3 people for 4 classes using lesson plans, with full documentation of observations and experiences. The second case study is studying a specific person through a minimum of 4 classes, with full documentation of observations and experiences.

Completion of a Birthlight worksheet that is given after completion of the first module.

Book or DVD review: Abstract of a relevant book/DVD to be presented during the Diploma weekend.

Attend other yoga classes.

All of the documentation and observations must be submitted to your Birthlight tutor at least 4 weeks prior to module three.

Third Module

2-day course: Interactive discussion of course work (theory and practise). A more holistic approach is taught to your already practical approach to Birthlight yoga.
