Birthlight Yoga Diploma for Health Professionals

A course specifically designed for midwives and childbirth educators who are not yoga teachers but who practise yoga, or have an interest in yoga. The diploma is divided into 3 modules that must be completed within a period of 1 year.

                     

Part 1

First Module
3 days of tuition including theory and practical. These days can be taken together, or separately, over 3 weeks. These day-long sessions include thoery and practical work.

Second Module
6 months of self practise with tutor support. The main focus is on setting up yogacise classes and documenting the regular processes.

Part 1 (the first and second modules) is tutor assessed by a simple practical assessment in which students teach a class.

                     

Part 2

Third Module

Case studies: Organising a class with a minimum of 3 people for 4 sessions, drawing and revising lesson plans, documenting observations and experiences.

Course work: Q&A tests and writing an essay of 1,000 words from a list of supplied essay titles.

Book review: Abstract of a relevant book to be presented during the Diploma weekend.

Attend yoga classes.

Weekend course: Interactive analysis of course work (theory and practise) of yoga practices. Examination of common complaints of pregnancy. Business plans, consulation sheets, feedback and evaluation forms. How to achieve an ongoing, realistic service can be discussed from first hand experience.

Course work must be submitted at least 4 weeks prior to the first day of the weekend course.

2 copies of your coursework need to be submitted (the second copy can be a photocopy) along with a photo of yourself.

                     

Price: New Zealand NZ$550 (incl GST) for part 1 - NZ$275 (incl GST) for part 2.
